Wendy selected to replace her existing counter tops with Quartz Calacatta Mystique solid surface counter top with a new under mount sink and faucet. The carpenters framed and boxed in the space above the existing wall mounted cabinets effectively raising the height of the upper cabinets to the ceiling. Finally after prepping and priming the existing wood cabinets, a high quality acrylic paint was applied to the cabinet faces, drawers, and doors. Engineered flooring has now been installed through the kitchen, laundry, dining room, living room, and entry hallways.

New lighting choices include two new large pendant lights above the kitchen island and wafer lights to replace the typical recessed can lights (pictured above). While a new dining room chandelier and entry way ceiling light provide the perfect ambiance to showcase the new Engineered hardwood flooring and freshly painted walls (pictured below).

The new cabinetry design layout for Mona’s new master bathroom includes two tall storage cabinets, one on each end of the spacious drawer units and sink bases. A free standing bathtub which allows for soothing relaxation is supported by a newly installed tankless water heater stowed in the crawl space of this new addition. The addition supplemented the existing bathroom increasing the overall square footage from 110 square feet (110SF) to a whooping 220 square feet. The 110 additional square feet allows for an increased shower size, accommodates greater storage space from an increased vanity size, and even provides the space for a stackable washer and dryer unit all within the newly remodeled master bathroom.

Transforming Home Offices: Adding a Window

Peter, a local Methodist Minister, had a wonderful home office that lacked one crucial element: a view to the outside world. The room had ample ambient lighting but was without any source of natural light. The home’s exterior was brick which complicated the situation.

An unfinished brick wall with an open doorway under construction.
A window set in a brick wall with a ladder and water barrels nearby.

One call to Quinta Contractors, LLC set Peter on course to obtaining his desire for a functioning office window. We determined that we could repurpose the existing brick to be removed from the wall during the demolition phase and that the brick on hand could indeed be cut and re-toothed into the new opening. We supplied a new vinyl replacement window which matched his other existing windows including the grid pattern for the muttons.

We were able to match the existing interior trim and repainted the trim and wall inside to complete the project. The exterior finish left the home looking as if the window had been there from day one. Peter was overjoyed to enjoy the new view from his home office.
