Keep Those Gutters Clean!

A little maintenance goes a long way

Gutters are one of those components that easily get overlooked.  That is until, they begin to backup and overflow with heavier rains.  Often times the gutters have some form of guard preventing leaf and trash build up, but even these usually still require some maintenance.

I can tell you that I have seen many a gutter growing “vegetation”.  That’s right enough trash has built up to allow plants and even small trees to grow in the gutters.  When trash is allowed to build up in your gutters you are asking for trouble.  First the flow of water from the roof during a rain shower is affected.  The blockage can quickly move to the downspouts which escalates the problem.  Second the additional weight of the trash, some of which is granules from the asphalt roof shingles, can actually cause the gutters to sag away from the cornice work.  That’s where the real problems begin.  Now you can find water getting into the sub fascia and primary framing to the structure.  The repairs at this point are often very costly.

The good news is with some routine maintenance, you can avoid the damages described above.  You should have the gutters on you home inspected by a professional at least once a year for proper flow.  Most of the time this inspection includes removing any debris retained in the gutters and downspouts and then flushing the same with a stead flow of water to ensure proper drainage.  Your home is one of your best investments; take time to look around today if you spot leaves or debris covering the gutters give Quinta Contractors a call at 901.368.5609 or at 615.609.7966 in Nashville and we will gladly perform these services and much, much more.

Bathroom Remodel

Michelle and Buddy's Counter Tops

Real-estate professionals have long touted the advantages of kitchen and bathroom remodeling.  The “best bang for the buck” can come from an updated kitchen or bath as these are the primary areas of focus for the prospective buyer.  While resale is an obvious motivation, why not look to the enjoyment that a new bathroom or kitchen can provide you and your family now?

Let’s narrow the discussion today to bathrooms; Quinta Contractors is a design/ build firm and thus we are able to aid you in every step required to get to your new bathroom.  The existing bathroom can often times be limited by the original specs of the home which most often never considered the needs and desires of the current homeowner. Cabinetry, like so many other aspects of home renovations is constantly evolving with improvements and additional styles.  Storage can be greatly improved with just the right designed layout.  One my favorite solutions is adding a standing linen cabinet to the layout to get the most out the space.

So, what ideas do you have?  Are you hoping to increase the size of your shower?  We often encounter dark, dingy showers which resemble caves with little or no natural light available and the presence of mold and mildew.  This unsightly mold and mildew is most often caused by the failure of the shower pan (a piece of vinyl which is installed between the foundation and the mortar bed located beneath the shower floor).
